Principal Electrical Engineer

Overview

In this on-site role, you will lead electrical design for hydrogen fuel cell products, focusing on wiring harnesses and electrical work packages. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver scalable, production-ready solutions that comply with standards. The position offers sponsorship and relocation support for the right candidate and sits within the AC Product Development team. You’ll influence the hardware development lifecycle from schematics to manufacturing documentation and test rig development.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and delivery of wiring harnesses, cable assemblies and electrical work packages for hydrogen fuel cell products
• Produce high-quality schematics, wiring harness designs and manufacturing documentation using SolidWorks Electrical
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create scalable, production-ready electrical solutions meeting standards
• Support system test rigs development and ensure designs address circuits, harnesses, bonding, earthing, EMC and DfX principles

Key requirements

• BEng, BSc or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Industrial experience in electrical design for electro-mechanical products
• Strong experience with SolidWorks Electrical, schematic capture, wiring harness design and manufacturing documentation
• Experience designing to recognised standards including circuits, harnesses, bonding, earthing and EMC
• Ability to lead work packages and communicate across multidisciplinary teams, delivering on time with attention to detail
