Overview
In this role, you provide desktop and user support within a bank’s European operations, primarily for around 130 users. You work as part of the Service Support Team across Europe, handling hardware builds, software installs and upgrades, and user training. You document issues clearly and drive resolution within the team, leveraging Cisco and Microsoft platforms to maintain secure, reliable access. This is a hands-on, cross-country support role in a dynamic financial services environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide desktop support to ~130 users across Europe (primarily City of London)
- Perform hardware builds for PCs and servers; install and upgrade software
- Manage login permissions and train users on software
- Document issues and ensure follow-up actions within the Support Team
- Handle incidents with focus on timely resolution within core hours (7:30–18:00, Mon–Fri)
- Work with Cisco and Microsoft platforms; support data-centre and inter-connectivity
- Utilise VLANs, firewalls, and other networking/security concepts to maintain secure access
- Support and manage security-related tools and authentication services (AAA, RADIUS, RSA)
- Knowledge of Cisco switches/routers (6500s), CCNP/Cisco CSM preferred; experience with McAfee HIPS and Trend Micro
Key requirements
- 5–8 years of desktop support experience
- Experience with Cisco and Microsoft platforms
- Strong technical skills with hardware, software, and network concepts
- Knowledge of Cisco switches/routers (6500s) and VLAN segmentation
- CCNP/Cisco certification or equivalent is advantageous
- Experience with security and authentication tools (McAfee HIPS, Trend Micro, AAA, SafeNet, RADIUS, RSA)
- Understanding of data-centre inter-connectivity, DMZ, OSPF, high availability
