Data Center Network Engineer – Quant Trading

Overview

In this role you will design, build, and operate data centres and colocation facilities to keep data accessible 24/7 for a leading quantitative trading firm. You will collaborate with network, server, facilities, and trading teams to deploy reliable infrastructure and manage vendor relationships. Expect hands-on work across deployment planning, provisioning, OS and network configuration, and cabling, with a focus on security, documentation, and operations excellence. This is a chance to shape scalable data centre capabilities in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Design deployment plans for new equipment using data centre best practices
• Manage procurement, shipping, and inventory of equipment, cabling, and parts
• Install and configure server OS in a PXE environment with Linux for network deployment
• Install, cable, configure, and troubleshoot network and server equipment
• Maintain high standards of security, organization, documentation, safety, and cleanliness in data centre operations

Key requirements

• 6+ years in a data centre environment
• Self-starter with initiative and problem-solving
• Strong communication skills
• Troubleshoot dark fibre connectivity
• Coding skills or ability to upgrade code on network devices (Python, Bash, Go)
• Experience managing projects
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (switching, routing, Layer 2/3)
• Linux
• Experience with Dell, Cisco, Juniper, Arista, Ciena, Corning, Ortronics
• Ability to design, deploy, test, and troubleshoot copper and fibre cabling
• Willingness to travel 2–4 weeks per year and work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends
