Senior Consultant, Indirect Tax, London

Overview

In this role, you will help clients optimise indirect tax processes through data-driven solutions. You’ll work within EY’s Indirect Tax Transformation team in London to apply data analytics and Microsoft-based tools to VAT and tax data, enabling smarter decisions and reduced risk. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams on tax technology projects, from data preparation to AI-enabled improvements. This is a fast-growth area offering exposure to multinational clients and a chance to shape how tax data powers business decisions.

Responsibilities

• Engage with clients to maximise value from tax data and analytics
• Lead or contribute to data analytics and automation projects for tax/finance use cases
• Support implementation of data-driven tax solutions and future-proof technology within client systems
• Assess client data and analytics capabilities, and guide AI-enabled tax journeys
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver controls, governance, and process improvements
• Translate complex requirements to technology teams and business analysts
• Contribute to data services focus, especially within the Microsoft technology stack

Key requirements

• Experience running data analytics or bespoke automation projects (tax/finance preferred)
• Experience supporting or leading process automation initiatives (requirements, design, build, review)
• Ability to translate business requirements to tech solutions and stakeholders
• Hands-on experience with at least one of: Python Pandas, Azure Databricks, Alteryx, Power Platform (PowerAutomate, PowerBI)
• Practical mindset with problem-solving approach and attention to detail
• Strong collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills
