Business Development Manager

Overview

In this role you will drive the Corporate BD agenda, collaborating with partners and the BD team to win new work and strengthen market position. You will manage pitches, proposals and client development, while coordinating across practice areas and geographies. You’ll oversee planning, events, profile-raising, and communications to raise the Corporate practice’s visibility. This is a client- and data-driven role with scope to mentor a junior BD colleague and influence cross-practice initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate Corporate pitches, proposals and RFPs with strategic input
• Identify and progress Corporate opportunities in collaboration with partners and the BD team
• Act as bid best-practice ambassador ensuring understanding and compliance of bid processes
• Maintain Corporate credentials and BD content
• Oversee Corporate BD activity across global, regional and local initiatives
• Coordinate Corporate practice communications and keep stakeholders informed
• Develop priority clients and targets using market/relationship intelligence
• Support cross-practice client initiatives and cross-geography engagement
• Support firmwide and cross-practice campaigns; develop client engagement events and meetings
• Manage and coach a junior member of the Corporate BD team
• Apply best-practice data/web analytics for lead generation
• Ensure adherence to firm procedures and systems

Key requirements

• Solid BD/Marketing experience in professional services, ideally legal
• Proven experience with pitches and RFPs
• Strong internal and external networking ability
• Proactive, collaborative and hands-on with a varied workload
• Team-oriented with partners and fee earners
• Experience running complex projects with multiple stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Proficient in PowerPoint, Word and Excel
• Self-motivated with multiple deadlines
• Experience with InterAction and BI systems is helpful but not essential
• Degree level education (or equivalent)
