Principal Electrical Engineer

Overview

As a Principal Electrical Engineer in the water sector, you will lead technical delivery across major long‑term frameworks UK‑wide. You will produce, review and approve intricate electrical designs and construction documentation for process plants and pumping stations, while guiding digital design workflows. You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, engage with clients, and drive continuous improvement in design and constructability. This is a high‑impact role that supports framework growth and knowledge capture within a professional engineering community.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery across major water sector projects
• Produce, review and approve electrical designs, specifications, calculations and construction documentation
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams (process, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, ICA) and act as Design Lead
• Engage with clients and manage delivery risks within frameworks
• Oversee digital design workflows to improve constructability and efficiency
• Mentor junior engineers and codify best practices

Key requirements

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• Substantial water sector experience
• Chartered or working towards chartership and membership of a relevant professional body
• Postgraduate qualification and AMP programme experience (desirable)
