Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Life Sciences

Overview

Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead mechanical building services design on diverse projects within a supportive, collaborative team. You will own mechanical packages, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior engineers while focusing on client satisfaction and delivery quality. The role offers scope to apply HVAC and public health expertise across small to medium schemes and contribute to bids and tender activity. Responsibilities

• Design and specify Mechanical Building Services systems per standards and project requirements
• Produce detailed design deliverables including drawings, calculations, and reports
• Conduct site surveys and support during construction
• Coordinate mechanical design with multidisciplinary teams
• Liaise with clients, contractors and stakeholders
• Contribute to tenders, bids, proposals, and scope of work
• Support project delivery including programme, cost, and quality
• Take responsibility for mechanical services packages on small to medium-sized projects
• Promote quality, compliance and engineering best practice across projects

Key requirements

• Relevant degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
• Membership of CIBSE, ideally working towards Chartered status
• Proven experience in Mechanical Building Services Engineering
• Strong HVAC and Public Health design experience
• Experience producing technical specifications and detailed design information
• Experience working within multidisciplinary design teams
• Experience contributing to bids, tenders and proposals
• Good understanding of the commercial aspects of projects
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with Navisworks
• Experience with NBS Create / Chorus
