Senior Software Engineer, Strategy Development

Overview

In this role you will join Uphold’s Trading Strategies team to design, implement, and maintain the core of the trading operation. You’ll build pricing models and automated strategies that drive profitability in crypto markets. You’ll apply software and quantitative skills to solve complex financial problems at scale, collaborating with traders and researchers. This is a hands-on role at the intersection of finance and engineering with a clear impact on trading performance and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement quantitative trading strategies including market-making, arbitrage and algorithmic execution using Golang and Python
• Build and maintain sophisticated pricing models for digital assets
• Enhance backtesting and market simulation frameworks to validate strategy performance and risk
• Collaborate with traders and researchers to translate ideas into production-ready code
• Contribute to systems for strategy configuration, deployment and real-time parameter tuning
• Analyze strategy performance metrics and market data to identify improvements and alpha opportunities

Key requirements

• BSc or advanced degree in a quantitative field (Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Engineering)
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in financial trading
• Proficiency in high-performance languages (Golang/C++/Java/Rust) and Python for data analysis
• Experience building pricing models or algorithmic trading strategies
• Strong understanding of financial markets, market microstructure and trading algorithms
• Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
• Fluent written and spoken English
