Overview

In this role, you will lead and advance Sulzer’s environmental compliance and energy performance across UK & Ireland sites. You’ll oversee the ISO 14001 framework, ensure regulatory adherence, and drive sustainability-focused initiatives. The role involves multi-site audits, performance monitoring, and partnering with site teams to embed best practices. Your work will support Sulzer’s sustainability ambitions and regulatory readiness, delivering measurable environmental improvements.

Responsibilities

• Manage and continuously improve ISO 14001 Environmental Management System across UK & Ireland sites
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation, permits and regulatory requirements
• Shape and deliver environmental and energy initiatives aligned with sustainability goals
• Conduct audits, assessments and compliance reviews across multiple locations
• Monitor environmental and energy performance, identifying improvement opportunities
• Support carbon reduction, waste minimisation and resource-efficiency projects
• Investigate environmental incidents and drive corrective actions
• Partner with site teams, operational leaders and external bodies to embed best practice
• Keep the business informed of emerging environmental legislation and compliance requirements

Key requirements

• Experience in environmental compliance within manufacturing, engineering or industrial environments
• Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and management systems
• Proven experience managing or supporting ISO 14001
• ISEP membership (or working towards it)
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Confidence to challenge, influence and drive improvements across multiple sites
• Proactive mindset and passion for sustainability
