Linux Systems Administrator

Overview

In this role you will co-manage the Linux, Windows, and networking infrastructure for a growing quantitative hedge fund, ensuring high availability and robust security. You’ll work with a scientific, fast-moving team to diagnose issues, implement improvements, and plan new systems within a formal change-control framework. The position blends hands-on administration with collaboration across IT support tasks in a high-performance environment. Responsibilities

• Maintain and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems and networks to ensure uptime and security
• Investigate issues, propose and implement improvements, and plan new system deployments
• Provide end-user support and operate within change-control processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support business needs and system reliability
• Work independently when needed, following established procedures and security policies

Key requirements

• Proficient Systems Administrator with strong problem-solving skills
• Good communicator and team player
• Experience with Linux (RedHat/CentOS) and Windows administration
• Familiarity with Puppet/Ansible, Satellite/Katello, Nagios or other network monitoring
• Experience with Apache/OpenSSL, Bash/Python, and OpenLDAP
• Knowledge of virtualization (VMware ESX/VirtualCenter) and Citrix
• Networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VPNs, Cisco IOS, VLANs, Juniper Junos, storage solutions (NetApp/HPE)
• Security-conscious with uptime-focused environments
