Lead Design QA Engineer

Overview

In this role you drive design quality and airworthiness for Safran’s aircraft products. You will lead QA activities to ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and customer requirements before production. You collaborate with engineering, operations, and regulatory bodies to preempt defects and drive continuous improvement across the product lifecycle. You’ll manage design reviews, audits, and certification support, shaping robust, producible solutions. This is a chance to influence safety-critical developments at a global aerospace leader.

Responsibilities

• Lead design QA activities in line with EASA/CAA Part 21J and DOH
• Plan and oversee airworthiness compliance and certification efforts
• Lead design reviews (PDR, CDR) and milestone reviews
• Drive defect prevention, RCCA/FRACA and corrective actions
• Coordinate audits and non-conformance management; approve corrective closures
• Define quality requirements for NPI programmes and support cross-functional teams
• Coach and develop Design Quality Assurance Engineers; identify training needs
• Represent the business in customer and regulatory meetings; report on quality performance

Key requirements

• 5-10 years in aerospace in engineering, design & development, or quality roles
• Proficiency with ISO9001, AS9100 QMS deployment
• Experience with EASA/CAA Part 21J
• Lead auditor training or experience in internal/external audits
• APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA proficiency
• RCCA/FRACA and Six Sigma DMAIC Black Belt preferred
• Configuration and data management experience
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and CAD models
• Strong analytical and communication skills
