Overview
As Engineering Supervisor, you lead engineering teams across multiple sites to ensure safe, efficient operations and high service standards for a high-profile client portfolio. You provide hands-on technical guidance, manage performance, and coordinate with the Area Contract Manager to maintain compliance and reliability. The role combines leadership with practical engineering oversight and a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement. You will shape service delivery and support the client through proactive incident investigation and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day leadership, direction and development to engineering teams (Shift & Day Engineers)
- Conduct annual appraisals after BGIS training
- Act as first point of contact for in-hours shift issues and mechanical escalations
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure site H&S compliance
- Act as on-site HV/LV Authorised Person when qualified and on shift
- Ensure Permit to Work (PTW) and LOTO systems are followed
- Maintain statutory, code, and contractual compliance across sites
- Oversee subcontractor performance, RAMS adherence and safe working
- Ensure PPMs, reactive tasks and audits are completed and logged in CAFM systems (e.g., Maximo, Concept)
- Plan PPM schedules and manage workload with Area Contract Manager
- Attend and review statutory work to ensure proper procedures
- Support engineers with technical queries and hands-on tasks
- Work with Area Contract Manager and Contract Support to sustain service levels
- Ensure prompt attendance and resolution of callouts in coordination with helpdesk
- Provide weekly operational reports and escalate non-approved works impacting service delivery
- Maintain accurate asset registers and ensure equipment labelling
- Proactively source additional works, obtain quotes and support procurement
- Investigate operational incidents and provide detailed reports and recommendations
Key requirements
- Proven experience as Engineering Supervisor or Manager in building services
- Strong background in mechanical, electrical or multi-skilled engineering
- Experience managing and developing engineering teams
- Solid understanding of building services, statutory compliance and FM operations
- Ability to manage subcontractors and oversee safe systems of work
- Experience delivering FM services (desirable)
- Exposure to performance management, appraisals and people development (desirable)
