Lead Software Engineer – Full Stack React/Java – Risk Frameworks

Overview

As Lead Software Engineer in Risk Technology, you will drive full-stack development in an agile team with a frontend focus. You own code quality, shape technical direction, and work across React frontends and Java/Spring Boot services. You’ll build cloud-native microservices with robust resilience and zero-downtime releases, while collaborating with stakeholders to refine requirements and raise engineering standards. This role offers impact through secure, scalable software in a risk-focused domain.

Responsibilities

• Write, review, and debug secure production code across frontend and backend services
• Design and build cloud-native, microservices-based applications with zero-downtime releases
• Apply domain modeling to structure software for clarity and maintainability
• Identify recurring failure patterns and automate remediation
• Lead communities of practice to raise engineering standards
• Design for resilience with scalable patterns and optimized data access
• Collaborate with stakeholders to refine requirements before coding

Key requirements

• Significant hands-on software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React
• Backend experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Solid understanding of HTML5, CSS, and a preprocessor such as Sass
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
• Comfortable in agile delivery (Scrum or Kanban)
• Able to solve complex design and functionality problems independently
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or equivalent), RESTful APIs, and distributed systems
• Hands-on experience designing and building applications with SQL and NoSQL databases
