Building Surveyor in Nottingham

Overview

In this Building Surveyor role you join Gateley Smithers Purslow’s Nottingham team to support a broad range of insurance and building projects. You will work on residential and commercial properties, delivering surveys, defect investigations, and reports within a collaborative, customer-driven environment. You’ll apply building regulations and health and safety standards to shaped projects while developing your technical and interpersonal skills. This is a growth role within a respected multi-disciplinary practice that values practical, well-communicated solutions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and advise on design, construction, maintenance, repair and refurbishment of buildings and sites
• Carry out acquisition surveys, condition reports, measured surveys and defect investigations
• Prepare reports, schedules of work and works specifications
• Design and oversee works using recognised building contracts and current technical standards
• Understand and apply health & safety, party wall, building regulations and planning legislation
• Promote the company’s services and secure projects
• Comply with company administrative, personnel procedures and Health & Safety regulations

Key requirements

• BSc (Hons) in Building Surveying
• Experience and working knowledge of consulting engineering, surveying, architectural & planning practices and procedures
• Experience in defect diagnosis and report writing
• Insurance repair project experience preferred
• Experience meeting deadlines and budgets on large-scale projects
• Experience and understanding of CDM Regs 2015, Party Wall and Building Regulation legislation
• Sound mathematical, scientific and IT skills and methodical problem-solving
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
