Principal Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role, you will lead mechanical design across water and wastewater projects, shaping engineering solutions from feasibility to construction. You’ll mentor teams, coordinate with multi-disciplinary engineers, and ensure asset standards are applied. You’ll work closely with clients and delivery teams to develop practical, safe, and efficient designs. This position offers impact on critical infrastructure and alignment with the company’s sustainability and resilience goals.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical design, planning, and execution across projects
• Provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers and project teams
• Mentor junior engineers and develop team capability
• Develop mechanical design for water/wastewater infrastructure including P&IDs, valve schedules, pumps, tanks, and process equipment
• Coordinate with Electrical, Civil, Geotech, and Process teams
• Ensure compliance with client asset standards and discuss best practices and waivers
• Collaborate with commercial, operations, and construction teams to deliver safe, practical design solutions
• Engage with clients to foster a one-team approach and align on project aims

Key requirements

• Chartered Mechanical Engineer or above
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Strong knowledge of water and/or wastewater industry
• Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles for process industries
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple design tasks and meet deadlines
