Commercial Manager – Exeter

Overview

In this Commercial Manager role, you will lead the commercial deliverables for a 40m Depot project in the South West, working closely with cross‑functional teams to protect value and manage risks. You’ll apply extensive rail sector knowledge and major contract experience to drive financial performance and change control. This position offers impact across project leadership, client liaison, and robust commercial governance within a respected civil engineering context.

Responsibilities

• Commercial Lead for the project
• Provide support and advice to commercial and project management teams
• Manage all financial functions including cost management, cost-to-completion forecasts, CV systems, and financial reporting
• Liaise with client and stakeholders on commercial matters
• Management of change control

Key requirements

• Degree qualified, ideally RICS or ICES member
• Experience with major forms of contract including NEC
• Senior Commercial leadership of Rail/Civil Engineering projects
• Strong rail sector appreciation, ideally from direct project experience
• Demonstrated claims production, negotiation and adjudication knowledge
• Extensive knowledge of commercial processes, including contract analysis and risk management
