Overview

In this Manager role within Deloitte’s R&D tax services, you will lead and deliver R&D claim projects for diverse clients, applying technical tax knowledge to eligibility and methodology. You’ll work closely with client teams and HMRC, building robust claims and supporting business development. The position blends data analysis, project leadership, and stakeholder engagement across sectors, offering impact on how clients maximise R&D incentives. This is a client-facing role in London with hybrid working and a clear path to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Analyze SME and Large R&D regime eligibility
• Analyze technical and cost data to develop robust R&D claim methodologies
• Lead tax-technical aspects of the R&D claim process, including Patent Box considerations
• Prepare clear HMRC reports explaining claims
• Attend HMRC meetings to address tax technical questions
• Provide industry insight and, where appropriate, fee proposals
• Work within diverse, inclusive teams and review junior work for Director/Partner
• Manage multiple large, complex projects and coordinate with clients and team members

Key requirements

• Degree level qualified (or equivalent)
• ACA, ATT or CTA qualified (or equivalent)
• Experience preparing R&D claims with minimal supervision
• Ability to prepare complex costing spreadsheets for SME and RDEC claims
• Knowledge of the UK Patent Box regime
• Experience reviewing UK R&D and Patent Box claims
• Proven ability to lead small R&D project teams
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and produce high-quality documentation
• Proven ability to pursue new work with leadership in market pursuits
• Well-organised with ability to juggle multiple large projects
