Utility Surveyor Scotland

Overview

In this role you will join WSP’s Surveying Services (UK) team based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, leading selected projects across Scotland and contributing to UK-wide work. You will conduct below-ground utility and drainage surveys, oversee quality assurance, and mentor junior team members. You’ll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary group to apply geospatial methods and UAV capabilities. This is a chance to develop technically and influence standards within a renowned engineering firm.

Responsibilities

• Manage own surveying projects
• Carry out below-ground utility and drainage surveys using EM and GPR
• Quality assurance to ensure standards on site and in the office
• Mentor junior team members
• Produce 2D & 3D CAD drawings and survey reports
• Use total stations and GNSS for data collection
• Communicate clearly with public and team members
• Contribute to Technical Excellence and innovation within the survey team

Key requirements

• QCF Level 3 and Level 5 in Utility Mapping and Surveying or equivalent qualification
• Proven fieldwork experience in below-ground utility and drainage surveys
• Experience with electromagnetic and GPR techniques
• Experience in PAS128 standards, data collection and post-processing of GPR data
• Ability to produce 2D & 3D CAD drawings and survey reports
• Experience with total stations and GNSS
• Full UK driving licence
• Ability to undertake CPD and evaluate others’ work
• Willingness to travel around the country
