Associate Town Planner

Overview

In this role you will lead planning work for large-scale logistics and employment schemes, guiding strategy through submissions and determination. You’ll coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage high-profile projects, and serve as a primary contact for international clients. You’ll contribute to business development while mentoring junior planners and upholding strong client relationships. This is a leadership position within a specialist planning environment, offering exposure to nationally significant projects and senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead preparation and submission of major planning applications
• Develop planning strategies for complex logistics and employment developments
• Manage projects from inception to determination
• Act as primary contact for high-profile international clients
• Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants
• Engage with local planning authorities and stakeholders
• Provide commercially-focused planning advice to clients
• Support business development and nurture client relationships
• Mentor and support junior planning team members

Key requirements

• 7-10 years’ relevant UK planning experience
• Strong track record in logistics, employment or large-scale commercial development
• Experience managing and leading complex planning applications
• Excellent knowledge of the UK planning system and development management process
• Strong client management and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities
• Commercial awareness and proactive opportunity identification
• RTPI membership or chartership advantageous
