Overview

In this role you lead AECOM’s Manchester-based infrastructure PM capability, shaping a high-performing team to deliver complex programmes. You act as the local focal point, driving recruitment, development, and commercial performance while aligning team objectives with regional growth targets. You’ll manage client-facing delivery, nurture cross-functional relationships, and foster a collaborative, innovative culture. The position combines leadership with hands-on project delivery influence, supporting multi-million programme work and major client frameworks. Responsibilities

  • Lead local office operations and provide day-to-day leadership for the Manchester PM team
  • Drive targeted recruitment to support regional growth
  • Manage team structure, line management, and regular engagement with team members
  • Set personal and business objectives aligned with regional performance targets
  • Support career development plans and progression pathways
  • Monitor and maintain utilisation to ensure strong commercial performance
  • Keep CVs and capability profiles current, compelling, and client-ready
  • Foster a positive team culture through regular engagement and local initiatives
  • Deliver multi-disciplinary complex projects within collaborative delivery teams
  • Mentor Project Managers, Graduates and Apprentices
  • Ensure commissions are managed and completed on time and to client satisfaction
  • Support and manage project resources to meet client and business requirements
  • Deliver projects to client satisfaction for quality, cost, and time
  • Develop strong client relationships and cross-functional teamwork
  • Support business development opportunities with existing and new clients and be the primary interface with clients

Key requirements

  • Minimum 9 years of proven PM services experience including post-contract management and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience and knowledge of NEC3/4 contract management, ideally with Accreditation
  • Relevant degree in project management, engineering, environmental science, construction, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in team leadership, resource planning, and development of junior staff
  • Experience as client-side Project Manager in Energy, Aviation, Water, Rail and/or NEC PM
  • Project management qualification (APMQ or PRINCE2) desirable
  • Ability to undertake security screening checks
  • Membership of a related professional body preferable (APM, CIOB)
  • Experience in Built Environment and all aspects of Infrastructure PM
  • Experience in integrated, multi-organisation, collaborative teams
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Motivated with a growing industry network
  • Relationship-building with clients and stakeholders
  • Ability to work on own initiative and with Senior PMs/Associates
