Overview

In this role you contribute to a specialist Data & Cyber team, supporting complex cyber and technology-related claims, breach response, and regulatory engagement. You will work with insurers, insureds, and brokers to shape coverage strategy and manage high-stakes incidents. The position offers exposure to high-value cyber work and collaboration with technical partners within a supportive, inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on breach response, policy interpretation and coverage strategy for breach-related matters
  • Manage and support complex cyber coverage matters, including multi-insurer claims
  • Provide guidance on technology and cyber-related liability exposures and E&O claims
  • Support defence and strategy of technology/data disputes, including ADR and litigation
  • Handle high-pressure incident response mandates (e.g., ransomware, extortion)
  • Advise on notification strategy and regulatory engagement (ICO-facing matters)
  • Support data subject claims and coordinate litigation risk strategies
  • Collaborate with technical cyber partners on breach response and remediation
  • Coordinate data protection guidance with specialist data advisory colleagues
  • Senior Associates supervise junior lawyers and contribute to team development

Key requirements

  • 1–8 years’ PQE (flexible for strong candidates)
  • Experience in cyber breach response, insurance coverage and/or technology/data claims
  • Strong understanding of breach response insurance policies; multi-insurer claims desirable
  • Familiarity with cyber incident response workflows and ability to work under pressure
  • Experience of technology/data-related disputes, ADR and ideally litigation
  • Working knowledge of UK regulatory engagement, including ICO interaction
  • Strong drafting, analytical and commercial judgement
  • Excellent communication skills with C-suite and brokers
