Civil Engineer

Overview

In this role you deliver civil engineering design for water and infrastructure projects from feasibility to detailed design, working with multidisciplinary teams to meet programme, budget and quality targets. You’ll develop technical capability and progress toward chartership while supporting junior colleagues. The position offers exposure to water treatment, pipelines and pumping stations, with hybrid work where you collaborate across projects in a supportive consultancy environment. You will help shape safe, sustainable solutions that support GHD’s mission in the water sector.

Responsibilities

• Deliver civil engineering design from feasibility through to detailed design
• Prepare supporting design calculations, technical notes and reports
• Coordinate and manage the preparation of technical drawings
• Support delivery of projects to agreed programme, budget and quality targets
• Take responsibility for smaller projects or defined elements of larger schemes
• Assist with day-to-day financial and commercial management of engineering commissions
• Apply relevant British Standards, water industry standards and GHD procedures
• Work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary design teams
• Share knowledge and support the development of junior team members

Key requirements

• 2+ years’ experience in civil engineering design, ideally within water and/or industrial sectors
• Exposure to projects such as water and wastewater treatment works, pipelines, pumping stations or related infrastructure
• Experience preparing and checking high-quality calculations, drawings and technical documentation
• Working knowledge of British Standards and water industry standards
• Familiarity with industry-standard analysis and design software
