Overview
As a Human Factors Consultant in London, you help design safe, intuitive medical device products and services. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to conduct people-centred research, translate findings into design and business direction, and strengthen client partnerships. You’ll lead usability activities across projects and contribute to proposals and service development. Responsibilities
- Plan, scope, and deliver human factors and usability activities across projects from design to reporting
- Select and apply methods (contextual inquiry, ethnography, interviews, usability studies, task/heuristic analysis, expert reviews, workshops, journey mapping)
- Moderate research sessions and workshops in the UK and internationally
- Analyse qualitative data into actionable design requirements, risk controls, and strategic recommendations
- Produce deliverables (study protocols, research plans, reports, client presentations)
- Lead or contribute to multidisciplinary project teams including scope, schedules, budgets, and risks
- Build trusted client relationships and identify new business opportunities
- Collaborate with business development to shape proposals and campaigns, support regulatory awareness initiatives
Key requirements
- Applied experience with human-centred research, ergonomics, usability, or user-centred design in commercial, consultancy, or applied settings
- Proven ability to plan and deliver qualitative research and fieldwork with synthesis and analysis
- Healthcare or medical device domain knowledge and awareness of regulatory expectations across markets
- Ability to translate complex evidence into clear, actionable recommendations for products or services
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication with ability to produce technical reports and client presentations
- Experience working with clients and collaborating with researchers, designers, engineers, and commercial leads
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage concurrent projects, deadlines, and budgets
