Health & Safety Manager Distribution

Overview

In this role you will lead the distribution centre’s health and safety strategy at Superdrug’s Head Office, coordinating with DC management to safeguard people and operations. You’ll champion the safety culture, drive continuous improvements, and oversee training, audits, and incident investigations. As a key partner to site leadership, you’ll shape safe, compliant practices across the distribution network. Responsibilities

• Plan and implement employee health and safety initiatives with a focus on continuous improvement
• Lead the Safety Training Team delivering MHE and overall health & safety training
• Ensure statutory compliance through robust systems and processes
• Develop and improve risk assessments and safe systems of work across the DC
• Coach managers, team leaders and employees on legal health and safety duties
• Partner with site management to drive safety agenda and culture
• Attend safety, site management and third-party meetings to provide safety guidance
• Lead site safety audits and monitor corrective actions to closure
• Monitor on-site health and safety implementation and advise on non-compliance
• Lead accident investigations and statutory reporting for effective closure
• Collect, analyse and report health and safety KPI data to senior management
• Lead supply chain and third-party safety audits and escalate as needed
• Conduct health and safety inductions, safety tours, and inspections
• Provide guidance to safety representatives and maintain updated contact lists
• Report communications with Environment Health Office & Primary Authority to Senior H&S Manager
• Pursue ongoing professional development and implement regulatory updates
• Contribute to a safety-first site culture and adapt to business needs
• Lead distribution fire risk assessment program ensuring compliance under FSRRO 2005

Key requirements

• Level 6 Occupational Health & Safety Qualification or working towards
• Training / train the trainer qualification and experience
• Coaching / development skillset and experience
• Fire safety qualification (Desirable)
• Experience in multi-site / FMCG / distribution environment (Desirable)
• Strong relationship management and stakeholder influence
• Ability to plan and organise MHE and H&S training
• Resilience and ability to work under pressure
• Self-motivated with prioritisation and workload management
• Knowledge of latest legislation and codes of practice (desirable)
