Lead Data Scientist

Overview

In this role you will lead machine learning initiatives for a data-driven private markets firm, shaping technical approaches and delivering measurable commercial impact. You’ll own end-to-end ML pipelines, from problem framing to deployment, collaborating with engineers and business stakeholders. Your work will span multiple industries, aligning modeling work with strategic financial and operational goals. This position offers autonomy, leadership responsibility, and the chance to influence outcomes at scale.

Responsibilities

• Translate complex business problems into measurable data science solutions that deliver commercial value
• Lead design, development, and deployment of predictive and optimisation models across multiple industries
• Own end-to-end ML pipeline: data exploration, feature engineering, modelling, evaluation, deployment
• Collaborate with data engineers and MLOps to ensure production-ready solutions
• Act as technical lead within project teams, mentoring mid-level data scientists
• Communicate findings and strategic insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders

Key requirements

• Proven experience applying data science in commercial settings
• Proven ability to lead data science projects from concept to production
• Deep understanding of statistical modelling, predictive analytics, and optimisation techniques
• Comfortable working with cross-functional teams including engineers, product leads, and client stakeholders
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a quantitative field from a strong university
