Contracts manager – Main contractor – West Kent

Overview

As Contracts Manager, you will lead multiple education refurbishment projects from pre-construction through handover, ensuring on-time delivery, quality, safety, and client satisfaction. You’ll coordinate design, programming, and on-site delivery while managing subcontractors and cross-functional teams. This role offers autonomy, direct reporting to the Construction Director, and the chance to shape delivery on live environments within a growing regional contractor. You’ll work closely with the commercial and design teams to drive successful outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Overall responsibility for programme delivery, quality, health & safety, and client satisfaction
• Programming, design coordination, sequencing and delivery management in live environments
• Managing and leading site teams and subcontractors across multiple projects
• Client and consultant liaison and relationship management
• Proactive risk and change management and problem solving
• Autonomy over schemes with direct report to Construction Director
• Collaboration with commercial and in-house design teams to support delivery

Key requirements

• Experience delivering multiple projects concurrently in a main contractor setting
• Strong knowledge of Design & Build procurement
• Experience on education projects or similar public sector schemes (live environments desirable)
• Confident client-facing and leadership skills
• Structured, programme-led approach with strong coordination ability
• Willingness for long-term, permanent role based in Kent or surrounding areas
• Open to candidates from trades or academic backgrounds
