Construction Partner – Contentious or Non-Con Background

Overview

In this role you will lead and grow a construction practice within a respected Oxford law firm, shaping strategy and delivering expert advisory services across contentious and non-contentious matters. You’ll manage client relationships, drive cross-practice collaboration, and mentor junior lawyers to maintain an inclusive, high-performance culture. You will engage in business development activities and contribute to the firm’s growth in the South East. This is an opportunity to influence the department’s profile and deliver client-centered solutions at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the construction practice and set strategic direction
• Oversee a range of construction-related instructions (contentious and/or non-contentious)
• Engage directly with clients and ensure exceptional service delivery
• Mentor junior lawyers and foster an inclusive team culture
• Drive business development and cross-practice collaboration
• Deliver seminars, networking events and initiatives to raise the department’s profile
• Identify cross-selling opportunities and support seamless client experience
• Contribute to firm-wide growth strategies and client portfolios

Key requirements

• Over 10 years PQE in construction law
• Proven track record in building client portfolios
• Experience contributing to growth strategies and sector knowledge in the region
• Ability to lead, manage client relationships and strategic direction
• Strong understanding of legal and commercial landscape in Oxfordshire/South East
