Chief Information Security Officer (CISO)

Overview

In this role you shape Cohere’s security vision and scale it across corporate systems, cloud and on‑premise infrastructure, and AI development. You will build trust by balancing speed, innovation, and security, representing Cohere in industry discussions and guiding secure AI adoption. You’ll lead cross‑functional security teams and establish governance, risk, and compliance programs that support rapid growth. Responsibilities

• Define and execute Cohere’s overarching information security strategy aligned with business priorities
• Build and scale risk, governance & compliance programs across all functions
• Lead security architecture across cloud and on‑premises infrastructure for resilience and security
• Lead, develop, and mentor security teams while fostering a security‑minded culture
• Partner with product, modelling, and engineering teams to enable secure AI development and deployment

Key requirements

• Proven track record as a CISO or senior security leader in high‑growth tech organizations, ideally with AI at scale
• Experience building and scaling enterprise security programs and capabilities
• Deep expertise in cloud security, DevSecOps, enterprise infrastructure, and AI/ML security
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks, governance expectations, compliance requirements
• Experience in public company environments, cybersecurity governance, risk management, audit readiness, and disclosures (SEC)
• Experience preparing organizations for IPO readiness and scaling security during rapid growth
• Experience leading large security organizations, budgeting, and cross‑disciplinary teams
• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field is preferred
