Revenues, Housing Benefit, and Financial Assessment OnDemand Officers

Overview

In this role you will support Local Authorities by delivering accurate, compliant revenues and benefits processing. You’ll assess claims, manage accounts, and respond to inquiries, aligning work with legislation and best practice. You will work across Revenues, Assessments, Property Inspections or OnDemand contracts, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure fair, timely outcomes. This position offers varied, meaningful work that impacts how councils deliver essential services to residents.

Responsibilities

• Assess Housing Benefit & Council Tax Support claims
• Manage Council Tax & Non-Domestic Rates billing, recovery & enforcement
• Handle overpayments, refunds & payment arrangements
• Prepare cases for court or tribunal
• Respond to customer and stakeholder queries clearly
• Ensure compliance with legislation, policy & DWP guidance
• Identify irregularities and escalate appropriately
• Operate within client contract parameters and appropriate systems (including CIS where applicable)

Key requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in Revenues and/or Benefits
• Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation
• Confident decision-maker (liability, recovery, overpayments, arrangements)
• Excellent written & verbal communication skills
• Comfort handling complex queries and sensitive situations
• Highly organized, accurate, and deadline-focused
• Strong IT skills and experience with online processing systems
