Project Controls Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the project controls for the HS2 Track infrastructure initiative, ensuring cost and schedule targets are met. You will work within a collaborative Rail Systems Alliance, coordinating with engineers, project managers, and stakeholders. The position focuses on planning, reporting, and governance, shaping the delivery of critical rail infrastructure in the UK. Responsibilities

• Lead development of schedules and budgets to meet milestones and cost targets
• Oversee weekly/monthly performance reports aligned with governance and external requirements
• Perform Earned Value Analysis and related reporting
• Monitor KPIs with the Contractor
• Maintain change logs, risk registers, and cost reports
• Define resource-loaded schedules for accurate planning
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders for information
• Ensure accurate entry of project data in management systems
• Provide leadership to the project controls team

Key requirements

• Experience as Project Controls Manager on medium/large-scale projects with team leadership
• Solid understanding of EVM, planning, and risk management
• Experience delivering controls on NEC3/NEC4 contracts
• Excellent Excel and IT skills; ability to deliver timely high-quality reports
• Initiative and solutions-oriented mindset
• Strong stakeholder liaison skills
• Knowledge of Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Power BI, or similar tools
