Overview

In this role you will contribute as a Process Safety Engineer at Kerry’s Menstrie site, supporting safe and reliable fermentation and yeast production operations. You will strengthen process safety management across complex processes and collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce risk. You will shape the site’s safety agenda, drive PSM initiatives, and mentor others in process safety practices. This is a hands-on, impact-focused position in a global, innovation-driven company.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to develop process safety capabilities for safe plant operation
  • Develop and implement a site strategy to move from Intolerable Risk to Broadly Acceptable Risk across PSM elements
  • Implement process safety programs, tools, training and assessments aligned with Kerry’s PSM framework
  • Support complex operations by identifying and implementing process safety and reliability improvements
  • Facilitate multidisciplinary teams in MoC, incident investigations, risk assessments, SIL studies, and LOPA
  • Lead site HAZOP activities and drive completion of actions
  • Ensure Hazardous Area Classifications (HAC) are identified, maintained and compliant with Kerry standards
  • Promote understanding and adoption of PSM processes through training and communication
  • Conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in hazardous areas
  • Ensure all site projects comply with PSM requirements and safety standards
  • Liaise with external regulators (HSE and SEPA) and identify new technologies to reduce risks
  • Carry out additional duties as requested by Maintenance leadership

Key requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or related discipline
  • Chartered Chemical Engineer (CEng) status preferred
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in process safety or related roles
  • Experience in chemical, energy, pharmaceutical, food or beverage manufacturing advantageous
  • Strong project management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate across departments and influence at all levels
