Senior Project Controls Engineer

Overview

In this role you will lead and deliver advanced project controls across complex infrastructure programs, ensuring time, cost, safety and quality alignment. You’ll shape control strategies, manage Earned Value Management, and work with the PMO to support delivery across Civil Works. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize programme performance and drive change within contractual boundaries. This is a chance to contribute to high-profile projects like HS2 and Hinkley Point C, shaping efficient, value-driven project controls.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an advanced project controls strategy covering programme, productivity and time/cost controls (EVM).
• Ensure control activities comply with safety, quality, time and cost parameters.
• Support the PMO Leadership Team.
• Collaborate across sectional teams to implement and manage project controls systems and processes.
• Manage Civils Work Programme WBS, CBS, OBS and related coding structures for segmentation and reporting.
• Lead the development of the EVM and associated reporting system for cost and time aspects; provide recommendations to improve performance.
• Participate in progress and performance reporting, templates, metrics and forecasts.
• Establish and maintain reporting and forecasting systems.
• Own and deliver change management processes within contractual boundaries and analyze change impact to a proficient level.

Key requirements

• 8-10 years’ experience in project controls on complex mega infrastructure projects
• APM PMQ, APMG Project Planning and Control Practitioner or equivalent
• Relevant undergraduate degree
• Hands-on experience with contract, cost and EVM systems (e.g., PRISM, Unifier, InEight)
