Managing Quantity Surveyor – civil rail

Overview

In this role you will lead the commercial function for large multi-discipline rail projects across London, aligning the team with company objectives and contract requirements. You will partner with the Employers team and Project Commercial Director to deliver timely valuations, reporting and commercial governance. You will mentor the commercial staff and ensure consistency of approach across projects, driving cost control and KPI reporting. This is a chance to shape commercial strategy on station upgrades, refurbishments and bridge works in a dynamic rail environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance to the commercial team and support succession planning
• Liaise with the Employers commercial team
• Ensure periodic valuations and reports are produced on time
• Implement commercial procedures and reporting for contract compliance
• Collaborate with the Project Commercial Director for consistency across the business
• Manage a commercial team covering quantity surveying, supply chain, contract administration, cost capture and KPI reporting
• Provide commercial advice to Senior Management Team
• Oversee contractual issues and maintain commercial records

Key requirements

• Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related subject
• Extensive experience delivering large multi-discipline rail projects in a main contracting environment
• Professionally qualified and accredited Senior QS
• Experience managing a team of quantity surveyors
• Strong contractual knowledge including NEC and NR contracts
