Syndicate Reserving Actuary

Overview

In this role, you contribute to SCOR’s Lloyd’s Syndicate by leading quarterly technical reserves and guiding a broad Reserving portfolio. You will drive the group reserving transformation program and collaborate with claims, finance, underwriting, and actuarial colleagues to deliver robust tools and methodologies. You’ll report to governance bodies and support regulatory and audit needs while mentoring junior team members. Responsibilities

• Lead the analysis of technical reserves on a quarterly basis for multiple lines of business
• Drive reserving projects including automation and modelling of lines of business
• Lead reporting for SCOR Managing Agency boards and governance bodies
• Improve models, visualisation tools, and dashboards
• Review Syndicate portfolio risks and contribute to actuarial reports
• Conduct studies for specific segments
• Collaborate with claims, finance, underwriting, and other actuarial members to develop tools and methodologies
• Support external actuaries, auditors, and regulators as required
• Enhance management information and reporting for PRA and Lloyd’s of London
• Communicate movement and trends to the business on a quarterly basis
• Mentor and develop junior team members

Key requirements

• FIA/FCAS/FIAA or equivalent post-qualification
• Extensive reserving experience in Lloyd’s/London Market
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP, Lloyd’s requirements, Solvency II and UK Solvency
• IFRS17 knowledge
• Regulatory awareness and impact understanding
• Strong project management and ability to represent the department
• Experience documenting processes and controls
• Actuarial software proficiency (ResQ)
• Advanced Excel/Office skills
• Ability to understand complex actuarial models
• Proficiency in VBA, SQL, Python; Gen AI knowledge is a plus
• Excellent communication skills with underwriters, brokers, and clients (cross-border)
