Overview

As Director of Communications – International Shows, you will lead the strategic communications for Cirque du Soleil’s touring and resident productions outside the Americas from London. You’ll fuse PR, earned media, and public affairs to create demand, elevate brand presence, and support revenue growth in diverse markets. You will align show storytelling with market marketing plans across time zones and languages, shaping cross-market launches and partnerships. This is a high-impact role that blends culture, strategy, and governance to unlock market access and drive performance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead an international show communications strategy covering touring, resident shows, and public affairs
  • Embed communications in the end-to-end demand engine (onsale, launch, sustain) aligned with market plans
  • Integrate public affairs into market entry and growth strategies for new territories
  • Support sponsorships and business development with stakeholder collaboration and joint communication plans
  • Own communications strategy and performance across all international touring and resident productions
  • Ensure each show delivers clear narratives, local relevance, and lifecycle communications
  • Implement scalable standards, playbooks, and governance across markets and agencies
  • Act as spokesperson for international shows and manage issues in market with HQ escalation when needed
  • Oversee show-specific social media ownership and define tone, publishing standards
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts with Legal, HR, Sustainability, Operations, Sponsorship & partnerships
  • Build relationships with government/public sector stakeholders, tourism boards, venues, and cultural institutions
  • Unlock market access by leveraging public affairs for touring and partnerships
  • Lead and develop PR teams and manage agency governance, budgets, and performance KPIs
  • Link communications and social to revenue outcomes with marketing and analytics
  • Ensure consistency between internal decisions, external messaging, and market execution

Key requirements

  • 10+ years in communications/PR with multi-market, international leadership experience
  • Proven ability to drive growth and demand via communications tied to sales outcomes
  • Strong experience in consumer, brand, or entertainment PR, with campaign or launch ownership
  • Experience working with government or public sector stakeholders in international markets
  • Deep media relationships across the UK and Europe with reach into other markets
  • Experience leading distributed, multi-time-zone in-house teams, including touring operations
  • Proven track record appointing and managing PR agencies across multiple markets
  • Strong command of organic social media strategy and community management for consumer/entertainment brands
  • Ability to operate in a matrixed environment with a North America–based HQ
  • Fluent in English; willingness to travel frequently across international markets
  • Preferred: additional languages relevant to key markets (e.g., French, Spanish, German, Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin)
  • Experience in entertainment, touring, live events, or premium brands
