Senior Transport Planner – Edinburgh / Remote

Overview

In this fully remote role, you will lead early-stage transport planning work for diverse energy, infrastructure and development projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients. You’ll shape transport strategy, assessments and mitigation across public and private sectors, supporting bids and business growth. You’ll apply your technical expertise to complex sites, from feasibility to planning submission, while mentoring and coordinating across projects.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Transport Assessments and Transport Statements
• Support Traffic & Transport chapters for Environmental Impact Assessments
• Contribute to large-scale energy and infrastructure projects, including renewables
• Conduct site visits, feasibility studies and transport due diligence
• Perform junction assessments (ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG)
• Develop access strategies, layouts and highway mitigation
• Adhere to DMRB, Manual for Streets and local standards
• Act as transport lead on projects and coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams
• Manage project budgets, programmes and resources
• Support tenders, fee proposals and business development

Key requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, Geography or related subject
• Strong experience in transport and development planning
• Hands-on ARCADY, PICADY and LINSIG
• Experience producing Transport Assessments, Transport Statements, EIAs and CTMPs
• Good understanding of UK transport planning guidance and planning policy
• Experience with private-sector clients, developers or landowners
• Knowledge of DMRB and Manual for Streets
• Strong communication and report-writing skills
• Good commercial awareness and experience delivering projects to budget and deadlines
• Progress towards professional accreditation (e.g., CEng, TPP) advantageous
