German Speaking Project Management Director – TRANSPORT PROJECT MANAGEMENT TEAM

Overview

As a senior leader you will drive delivery of major, multidisciplinary infrastructure programmes across transport and related sectors, coordinating UK/Ireland delivery with German-speaking clients and teams. You will own project performance, governance, and client relationships while developing the business and guiding teams through complex design and construction challenges. This role blends strategic leadership with hands-on delivery to shape Ramboll’s project management offering and pipelines. Responsibilities

• Lead and deliver major, complex infrastructure projects from inception to completion
• Accountability for project performance including safety, programme, cost, quality, risk and change control
• Act as the client’s senior representative, managing relationships with clients, regulators and stakeholders
• Lead and coordinate large multi-disciplinary teams (internal resources, consultants, contractors, supply chain)
• Plan and manage design stages ensuring high-quality, safe, compliant design solutions
• Oversee procurement strategies and contract management (NEC, ICE, FIDIC, Design & Build)
• Champion HSE, sustainability and customer outcomes across projects
• Prepare governance reports, progress updates and financial forecasts
• Undertake project and programme reviews for continuous improvement
• Support and lead business development, including bids and winning proposals
• Contribute to professional development and strategic growth of the team and business

Key requirements

• Fluent in German (speaking and writing)
• Proven track record delivering large-scale, complex construction or design-led infrastructure projects
• Experience with project, financial, programme and resource management including multi-million-pound budgets
• Experience directing large project teams (often 100+ people)
• Strong project controls capability with data-driven decision-making
• Excellent stakeholder management and influence at senior levels
• Collaborative, curious and confident leader capable of driving change
• Business development capable, including leading bids and proposals
• Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Construction or related discipline
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent (e.g. ICE, APM, CIOB, RICS, PMP)
• Member of a relevant professional institution (e.g. ICE)
• Health & Safety qualification desirable (e.g. SMSTS, NEBOSH)
