Overview

As a Consultant Spinal Surgeon at One Health Elective Surgery Hub North Lincolnshire, you will deliver expert spinal care within a growing, dedicated elective setting. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality NHS outcomes and contribute to service development and governance. The role combines clinical leadership with ongoing improvement of patient care in a modern, secure environment. You will be a key contributor to patient safety and clinical excellence in a regional healthcare provider.

Responsibilities

• Outpatient assessment, diagnosis and management of spinal conditions
• Perform elective spinal procedures in line with national standards and pathways
• Pre- and post-operative follow-up care
• Collaborate with anaesthetic, nursing and multidisciplinary teams to maintain high care standards
• Support development and expansion of spinal surgery services
• Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
• Produce clinic letters, operative notes and patient reports
• Participate in MDT meetings and clinical case discussions
• Ensure GMC compliance and relevant regulatory governance
• Contribute to audits, quality improvement and service evaluation
• Supervise and support clinical colleagues as appropriate
• Engage in appraisal and revalidation processes
• Promote patient safety, clinical excellence and continuous improvement

Key requirements

• Full GMC registration and Specialist Register status in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or Neurosurgery
• FRCS (or equivalent)
• 12 months+ experience as a substantive or locum NHS Consultant
• Proven experience in spinal surgery within NHS and/or independent practice
• Excellent clinical, communication and team-working skills
• Desirable: Fellowship training in Spinal Surgery; experience developing surgical services
