Data Consultant

Overview

In this Data Consultant role, you support the Data & Insights team within GHD Advisory to deliver data-driven solutions across sectors. You will work on modelling, analytics, and location intelligence projects that shape client decisions and outcomes. The role combines technical delivery with stakeholder engagement, enabling cross-functional collaboration in a growing, employee-owned environment. You drive practical insights through data, analytics, and storytelling to support sustainable infrastructure and services.

Responsibilities

• Engage with stakeholders to gather information, identify root causes, and build strong relationships
• Present results clearly to diverse audiences, tailoring technical content as needed
• Design solutions, write code, and conduct analyses to deliver technical project outcomes
• Use data and management techniques to improve operational performance
• Provide feedback on data-driven insights and shape technical approaches
• Act as Project Manager on suitable projects
• Contribute to team growth and business development, including input to tenders and bids
• Pursue continuous learning opportunities and develop team capabilities

Key requirements

• Proven experience in data analysis and problem solving in a consulting context
• Strong data manipulation and analysis skills
• Programming using Python and SQL (additional languages a benefit)
• Dashboarding with Tableau and/or Power BI; data visualization with common packages
• Version control knowledge (Git)
• Experience contributing to technical playbooks and applying statistical methods
• Business analytics experience and understanding of agile project management
• Clear client communication and storytelling of technical concepts
