Customs and Trade Compliance Consultant

Overview

In this role you advise clients on cross-border regulations and international trade laws, developing strategies to minimize duties and ensure compliance. You work with clients to navigate the evolving global trade landscape, collaborating with internal and external partners. You help shape compliant solutions that meet business needs while addressing regulatory changes. This position offers engagement across multiple jurisdictions and a focus on practical, actionable compliance outcomes. You will contribute to the firm’s mission of guiding clients through complex regulatory hurdles with integrity and expertise.

Responsibilities

• Monitor regulatory changes affecting customs and trade compliance
• Analyze import and export data for accuracy and compliance
• Assist with classification and valuation of products
• Review goods for dual-use, sanction and embargo regulations from the UK and EU
• Guide clients through free trade agreements and special customs programs
• Communicate clearly with businesses to help them navigate the evolving global trade landscape
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with both internal and external parties
• Complete 52 hours of training per year as per company standards
• Adhere to ethical business practices and contribute to the organization’s success

Key requirements

• At least two years’ professional experience in a trade compliance position
• Experience with international trade compliance matters
• Understanding of European Union and United Kingdom laws and regulations
• Proficiency in Excel and related computer applications
• Proven ability to engage with both internal and external stakeholders to collect information and coordinate projects
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, solve problems, and support teams in meeting or exceeding customer deadlines
• Track record of establishing, implementing, and maintaining standards, while continuously seeking improvement opportunities
