Software Engineer, Enterprise

Overview

In this role you design and build scalable backend services and full-stack features for AI-powered applications on Scale’s GenAI Platform. You connect AI research with production, turning prototypes into enterprise-ready solutions that enable customers to build, deploy, and manage AI agents. You will work closely with ML, design, and product teams to deliver high-performance, observable systems at production scale. Responsibilities

• Design, build, and optimize backend services for AI-driven apps, focusing on agents, evaluation tooling, and automation
• Develop features for Scale’s GenAI Platform to enable building, deploying, and managing AI agents with robust backend support
• Implement scalable APIs and services in Python (e.g., FastAPI) for real-time AI applications and large-scale data processing
• Build and maintain full-stack web apps using Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Tailwind
• Integrate AI models and evaluation systems with ML teams to improve agent reasoning, response quality, and decision-making
• Manage and optimize cloud infrastructure for high availability, performance, and security in AWS, Azure, or GCP
• Ship features rapidly with high code quality, observability, and performance across backend systems

Key requirements

• 5+ years of backend or full-stack experience with emphasis on backend engineering
• Strong proficiency in Python and frameworks like FastAPI or Flask
• Familiarity with frontend tech (Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind) for polished UIs
• Experience balancing speed and quality in fast-paced environments
• Passion for AI and experience with AI-first apps, agent-based systems, or data-rich web platforms
• Strong cloud experience (AWS, Azure, GCP); containerized deployments (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud services (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB)
• Track record of cross-functional collaboration with design, product, and ML teams to deliver AI-powered apps
