Consultant in Acute Medicine

Overview

You join an established Acute Medicine team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital to lead acute care across AMU, SDEC and MRU. You will supervise junior staff, participate in governance and teaching, and contribute to service development within a values-driven, inclusive trust. Responsibilities

• Oversee team activity during clinical sessions and support both registered and non-registered staff
• Provide supervision to junior doctors, ACPs and clinical practitioners
• Handle administrative duties related to patient care
• Contribute to medical education for the multidisciplinary team
• Participate in departmental and directorate meetings
• Support the Trust in emergencies and on-call commitments
• Undertake ward rounds across 94 inpatient beds and assess SDEC patients
• Engage in governance activities including morbidity and mortality meetings and quality improvement
• Lead or contribute to audits and address patient safety and service concerns

Key requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
• MRCP or equivalent
• CCT or CESR in Acute Medicine (or CCT/CESR in General Medicine with sufficient Acute Medicine consultant-level experience)
• Current UK professional registration
• Evidence of CPD/CME
