Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

In this role you will develop coordinated mechanical designs for building-scale projects from concept to handover, ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements. You will collaborate with project leadership and cross-discipline teams to meet programme, quality, safety and financial objectives. You will produce designs, calculations, schematics, and specifications, support approvals, respond to RFIs, and contribute to BIM coordination and handover. The position offers exposure to high-profile, technically complex schemes and a supportive, safety-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Produce coordinated mechanical designs, calculations, schematics, layouts, specifications and equipment schedules
• Develop solutions that meet client requirements, statutory standards and project performance criteria
• Coordinate designs with architectural, structural and other building-services disciplines
• Review surveys, existing information and design risks, raising queries where required
• Prepare technical submissions and support approvals with clients, consultants and authorities
• Respond to RFIs and provide practical technical support during construction
• Participate in design reviews, value engineering and BIM coordination
• Support testing, commissioning, record information and project handover

Key requirements

• Relevant design experience and technical knowledge within mechanical building services
• Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in an appropriate engineering discipline
• Proficient with relevant calculation, design and drawing software
• Good understanding of UK standards, regulations, coordination and constructability
• Good knowledge of relevant standards, statutory requirements and design-assurance processes
• Experience with BIM and coordinated digital design workflows is advantageous
• Ability to travel to and work from the London location as required
