Principal RF Systems Engineer – HIL & Simulation

Overview

In this role you lead MASS’s synthetic range activities at the St Neots lab, shaping new RF, HIL, and simulation capabilities for testing complex systems across air, land, maritime and space domains. You work across RF, hardware, software and simulation to improve verification approaches and deliver synthetic Test & Evaluation trials. You provide technical direction to engineers and serve as a key customer contact, influencing how the capability evolves. This is a chance to apply cross-sector techniques to a pioneering defence-oriented testing platform.

Responsibilities

• Lead synthetic range activities and deliver synthetic Test & Evaluation trials
• Shape verification and validation approaches using new technologies
• Provide technical direction to engineers and act as a primary customer contact
• Influence capability design and delivery as requirements and technologies evolve
• Bring diverse engineering approaches from other sectors to improve testing and assurance

Key requirements

• Experience creating test scripts or suites using LabVIEW, Python or MATLAB
• Experience with synthetic hardware, simulation or testing methods (DSI, IQ streaming)
• Experience with laboratory test equipment (Network Analysers, Signal Generators, Oscilloscopes)
• Calibration and configuration activities against defined test strategies
• STEM degree or equivalent relevant experience
