Customer Quality Engineer – Engines

Overview

In this role you will own the investigation, containment and resolution of customer-facing engine and powertrain quality issues. You’ll act as the technical bridge between customers, dealers, Aftersales, Powertrain Engineering, Manufacturing and Supplier Quality to drive robust corrective actions. Your work spans data analysis, testing, and failure analysis to prevent recurrence, with an emphasis on engine performance, durability and control systems. You will contribute to launches and continuous improvement in a globally ambitious brand.

Responsibilities

• Act as the technical quality specialist for engine and powertrain field concerns
• Investigate engine issues reported by customers, dealers and field teams
• Lead containment, root cause analysis and permanent resolution of engine-related concerns
• Coordinate vehicle inspections, engine testing, component strip-downs and failure analysis
• Review diagnostic data, warranty claims and customer descriptions to identify failure patterns
• Collaborate with Powertrain Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Supplier Quality and Production to define root cause and corrective action
• Lead structured problem-solving using 8D, fault-tree analysis, 5 Why and other quality tools
• Define containment and interim repair strategies for dealers and customers
• Support development and validation of permanent production and service fixes
• Monitor effectiveness of corrective actions via warranty and field data
• Provide technical guidance and training to dealers and service teams
• Support new product launches by identifying engine-related risks and launch controls in place
• Produce technical reports and communicate engine-related risks to senior management
• Support safety, compliance or escalation investigations related to engine issues

Key requirements

• Degree, apprenticeship or equivalent in Mechanical, Automotive, Powertrain or Manufacturing Engineering
• Strong practical and theoretical understanding of internal-combustion engines and motorcycle/automotive systems
• Experience in engine-development, powertrain-quality, field-quality, warranty, diagnostic or failure-analysis roles
• Solid knowledge of engine lubrication, cooling, combustion, fueling, ignition and mechanical systems
• Experience with engine strip-down, component inspection and physical failure analysis
• Ability to interpret diagnostic data, test results, drawings and technical specifications
• Strong knowledge of structured problem-solving and quality tools including 8D, FMEA, APQP and PPAP
• Analytical mindset with ability to distinguish root cause from secondary damage
• Confident communicator capable of explaining complex technical issues to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Customer-focused with sense of urgency and ownership
• Motorcycle or automotive industry experience preferred
• Willingness to travel to dealers, suppliers or customer locations
