Overview
As Senior Actuarial Analyst you will support the Head of Investment Valuations to sustain independent valuation oversight across the investment portfolio, ensuring robustness and governance for reporting and risk purposes. You will oversee valuations of diverse asset classes, challenge models and inputs, and drive improvements in valuation frameworks and controls. You will own liquidity stress testing within the liquidity risk framework and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to inform decisions and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities
- Support independent valuation and price verification of assets across the portfolio.
- Oversee valuations for fixed income, derivatives, private credit, structured products, real estate and other Level 3 investments.
- Review and challenge valuation methodologies, assumptions, models and market inputs.
- Maintain and enhance the Investment Valuation Framework to align with accounting standards and regulations.
- Monitor valuation controls, governance, escalation, and implement improvements.
- Develop and review valuation methodologies for new, complex, illiquid assets.
- Enhance valuation models, processes, data quality and analytical capabilities.
- Provide valuation guidance to stakeholders across Investment, Finance, Risk, Actuarial and Operations.
- Produce management information, valuation reports and committee papers.
- Own liquidity stress testing and scenario analysis; support development of liquidity models and framework.
Key requirements
- Experience in investment valuation, risk, actuarial, investment finance or asset management across financial services.
- Strong knowledge of asset classes including fixed income, private credit, derivatives, structured finance and illiquid investments.
- Knowledge of valuation principles and regulatory frameworks (IFRS, Solvency II).
- Understanding of derivatives and valuation drivers (IR swaps, cross‑currency swaps, repos, TRS, FX forwards).
- Experience reviewing and challenging valuation models, assumptions and data.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills for complex data interpretation.
- Open to actuarial and non‑actuarial backgrounds; exceptional quantitative skills will be considered.
- Knowledge of liquidity risk and stress testing, and ALM principles.
- Clear communicator with ability to build relationships across stakeholders.
- Proactive, solutions‑focused with track record of process improvement; Advanced Excel essential; Python or VBA advantageous.
