Trade Compliance Manager

Overview

As Trade Compliance Manager, you ensure compliant cross-border movement of Disney products across the UK and EU. You partner with internal teams, customs brokers, and logistics partners to navigate regulations, mitigate trade risk, and optimize duty exposure. You’ll shape import/export processes, maintain compliance SOPs, and monitor regulatory changes to keep shipments flowing smoothly. This role offers hands-on problem solving in a collaborative, values-driven environment with a clear impact on global operations.

Responsibilities

• Manage accurate import declarations, including classification, valuation, and origin
• Review and validate import documentation for accuracy
• Maintain tariff databases (UK Global Tariff, EU TARIC) and apply preferential origin
• Collaborate with customs brokers to resolve clearance issues and post-entry corrections
• Oversee export classifications, screening for restricted parties, and licensing requirements
• Coordinate with freight forwarders for timely outbound shipments
• Develop and maintain UK/EU SOPs; conduct audits and root-cause analyses
• Support trade compliance training and escalate risks with mitigation plans
• Liaise with TWDC Tax, Finance, and external stakeholders to optimize landed costs
• Ensure procedures for temporary exports, returns, repairs, and licenses are followed

Key requirements

• Strong understanding of UK/EU customs regulations and trade compliance
• Experience in tariff classification, customs valuation, duty management, and preferential origin
• Hands-on experience with customs brokers and logistics providers
• Familiarity with UK Export Control classifications and EU Dual-Use controls
• Analytical mindset with attention to detail
• Clear communication for cross-functional teams and presentations
• Experience creating procedures for inbound management processes
• Experience in multinational supply chains or consumer products environments
• Exposure to FTZ/customs warehousing, IPR/OPR, or similar regimes
• Knowledge of trade compliance systems (e.g., GTM software)
• Experience creating training materials or compliance guidance
• Experience working across cultures (US, EU, Far East)
