Overview

You will develop and validate optical concepts for automotive exterior and interior lighting, shaping lighting solutions from concept to production. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to ensure feasibility, compliance, and high visual quality using simulation and rendering. The role blends design, analysis, and collaboration to advance cutting-edge automotive lighting technologies. This is an opportunity to contribute to innovative lighting systems for leading international customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and design optical concepts for automotive exterior and interior lighting applications
  • Evaluate regulatory requirements and ensure compliance with customer specifications
  • Select light sources, optical materials, and finishes
  • Simulate, analyze, and optimize optical systems (reflectors, lenses, light guides, projection systems, HUD)
  • Collaborate with design, electronics, and thermal engineering to validate feasibility
  • Create visualizations and renderings of lighting functions (lit and unlit)
  • Document development results and communicate findings to customers and stakeholders

Key requirements

  • Degree in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Photonics, Lighting Technology, or related field
  • Experience in optical design, simulation, or development, preferably in automotive
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Experience with optical simulation software such as Speos, LucidShape, or comparable tools
  • Working knowledge of CATIA V5
  • Basic programming skills in Python, C#, C++ or similar
  • Understanding of automotive lighting regulations and homologation requirements
