Band 8a Senior EPMA Pharmacist

Overview

As Senior EPMA Pharmacist, you will lead the development, configuration, and governance of the EPMA system to enable safer, digitally enabled patient care. You will provide clinical and digital leadership across the Trust’s EPMA and EPR initiatives, driving transformational projects and cross‑functional collaboration. You will train staff, monitor system performance, and support digital transformation efforts to improve prescribing practices and clinical governance. This is a chance to shape digital medicines optimisation at a large NHS Trust and influence patient care at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, configuration, testing and optimisation of the EPMA system
• Provide expert clinical and digital leadership to ensure safe electronic prescribing practices
• Support digital transformation initiatives and the EPR programme
• Train and coach multidisciplinary staff in EPMA usage
• Monitor system performance, investigate incidents and contribute to governance and risk management
• Collaborate with clinicians and operations to implement digital solutions
• Act as ambassador for EPMA and digital medicines optimisation across the organisation

Key requirements

• MPharm or equivalent; GPhC registration
• Postgraduate qualification in Clinical Pharmacy or Digital Health (or equivalent)
• Mandatory CPD to maintain practice fitness
• Post-registration hospital clinical pharmacy experience
• Experience with IT and electronic prescribing systems
• Extensive experience configuring Oracle Health/Cerner Millennium
• Experience delivering education to large groups
• Supervisory experience
• Co-ordination and leadership of audits
• Experience across secondary care
