Fire Engineer

Overview

Senior Fire Engineer opportunity with an employee-owned consultancy known for its built environment expertise. You will act as a technical authority, shaping fire engineering delivery and the service direction while mentoring others and maintaining client relationships. The role combines complex design, regulatory compliance, and business development in a collaborative, growth-focused culture. You will influence standards, engage cross-functionally, and help scale the fire engineering offering with autonomy.

Responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of fire strategies, design statements and regulatory compliance reports from concept to completion
• Serve as the senior technical lead on projects, providing assurance, challenge and guidance
• Ensure compliance with Building Safety Act, Building Regulations and current UK fire safety legislation
• Manage complex/high-risk buildings, gateway submissions, refurbishments and external wall remediation
• Support business development, contribute to fee proposals, strengthen client relationships
• Mentor and develop junior fire engineers through knowledge sharing
• Engage with clients and design teams across disciplines to influence project outcomes
• Collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment to deliver pragmatic engineering solutions

Key requirements

• Chartered (or equivalent professional level) with significant UK fire engineering consultancy experience
• Strong understanding of current regulatory landscape
• Comfortable leading complex projects and engaging with clients and teams
• Ability to make risk-based engineering decisions where prescriptive answers are not required
• Desire to influence service direction and cross-disciplinary collaboration
